Moscow Makes It Clear Again: No Peace, Only Ukraine’s Capitulation

On July 27, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made it clear that talk of a ceasefire or peace negotiations remains nothing more than an illusion. In an interview with Russian state media, he stated that Russia will not end its military campaign until all objectives declared at the start of the so-called “special military operation” are achieved.

His statements leave little doubt: Moscow has no intention of engaging in genuine negotiations—unless they result in Ukraine’s de facto surrender. Peskov stressed that “the completion of our tasks must come first,” and only afterward can a discussion begin about future relations with Ukraine—clearly on Russia’s terms.

This rhetoric reinforces a stark reality: hopes for compromise or diplomatic resolution from the Russian side are unfounded. Once again, it is evident that the Kremlin is relying solely on military force and the dismantling of Ukrainian sovereignty.

In this context, diplomacy appears to serve merely as a smokescreen. Supporting Ukraine is not just a matter of regional stability—it is a moral imperative. Ukraine needs weapons not simply to defend its borders, but to uphold its very right to exist as an independent nation. The sooner this is recognized, the sooner the war can end—on terms of justice, not subjugation.
