Russian Drone Attack Hits Residential Building in Bilozerka, Ukraine: Two Injured, Search for Survivors Ongoing

In the early hours of May 30, 2025, a Russian drone strike targeted a five-story residential building in Bilozerka, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, causing significant destruction and sparking a fire. The attack, carried out with a “Geran-2” drone, led to the partial collapse of the structure, with two people confirmed injured and emergency crews searching for others potentially trapped under the rubble.

According to Ukraine’s Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the strike occurred around 2:30 a.m., hitting the apartment block and causing extensive damage. A 40-year-old woman and her 16-year-old son were among the victims, suffering blast injuries and carbon monoxide poisoning from the ensuing fire. Both were promptly evacuated and are receiving medical treatment, though their condition remains under evaluation.

Rescue teams from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) are working tirelessly at the site, clearing debris and searching for survivors. “Preliminary reports suggest two more individuals may be trapped under the rubble,” the SES stated, noting that operations are ongoing in high gear. Emergency responders, medical teams, and law enforcement are on the scene, documenting the aftermath and providing aid.

The attack adds to a series of strikes on civilian infrastructure in the region, highlighting the ongoing toll of the conflict on non-combatants. Local authorities have urged residents to follow safety protocols and comply with emergency service directives. The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the incident, classifying it as a violation of the laws and customs of war.
